Are you stuck at home with no way to exercise?

Of course you can do push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups like they do in prison movies, but surely there must be a better way to get some good cardio exercise.

That old XBOX 360 with Kinect sensor or your kid’s Switch might be the ideal solution for a fun workout.

Here are some gaming consoles and games that you can play on them so that you can workout while having fun.

PS4 with a VR Kit

Many people associate virtual reality (VR) headsets with horror games and funny online videos, but did you know you can use them to work out? Some people enjoy playing Creed: Rise to Glory, a boxing simulator that gets your arms moving. It’s a game that allows you to use your VR controllers to feel like you’re actually boxing.

Since you wear a VR headset while playing, you see through the eyes of your boxer and fight against different opponents. By moving around, punching and trying to win boxing matches, you’ll find yourself sweating in no time. Active games like this stand as excellent examples of the exercise that you can get with VR headsets.

As an added bonus, you can also get this game on Steam, so those with a PC VR set can get in some exercise as well.

PS4 with a Motion Camera

The PS4 has an awesome device known as the Motion Camera. This camera not only points at you, but it can pick up your movements and use it as a way to play games. This made the device a perfect candidate for Just Dance 2020. This series has been around for over a decade, but it still provides fun and excellent music for people that buy it.

In this game, you pick the song that you want to dance to and then a dancer appears on the screen. From here, you follow their dance moves and earn points based on how well you follow along with the dancer and the timing of the song. To add to all of this, you can play with up to four people and the game is available on multiple consoles.

The Just Dance series has plenty of other games that you can enjoy on different consoles, so check them out and do some dancing.

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has some interesting and fun game accessories. Nintendo recently released two more gaming accessories: the Ring-Con Grips and the Leg Strap. By holding the grip and wearing the strap around your ankle, you can enjoy Ring Fit Adventure while getting some exercise.

The game is an RPG where you run to different destinations and use fitness moves to fight enemies. To make it even better, the creators recently released a free update that adds a Rhythm mode to the game. Enjoy some Nintendo songs and a fun RPG while getting some excellent exercise with this one of a kind game.

Ring Fit Adventure stands out because it takes a different approach from other exercise games, so this gives you a great chance to enjoy a unique experience.

Xbox 360 with a Kinect Sensor

Dancing seems to work well for gaming consoles with motion sensors. The Xbox 360 is no exception with the Kinect Sensor since it can also closely track your movements. When the Kinect came out, it spawned a new series with sequels that grew in popularity. Eventually, this series released Dance Central 3.

This game also focuses on having you do dance moves along with the music. However, as an added bonus, it also teaches you the names of dance moves. As you follow the patterns on the bottom and the character’s moves, you can learn dance moves that you could also do in real life.

If you like Dance Central 3, then make sure to check out the rest of the series for more awesome music and opportunities to dance.

Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii revolutionized the gaming industry by introducing a motion controller as the main way to play. With this, many motion based gaming accessories were added to the Wii. The Wii Balance Board allows you to stand on it and play different games. If you want something to help you workout, then you should look into Wii Fit Plus.

This game provides you with plenty of mini-games that you can play to workout and enjoy yourself. This game will also teach you yoga and help you set up different routines for yourself. This allows you to learn those different poses by watching the Wii Fit Trainer on screen.

If you have a Wii Balance Board, then you should look into this game and try to create your own workout routines.

Conclusion

While people associate video games with sitting around, you can actually use these powerful systems to get moving and workout. This includes old and new consoles: from Wii motion controls to VR headsets, you can use these gaming consoles to burn some calories. See what options you have and give these games a try.
